The wear resistant PTFE bushing with bronze is built on a low-carbon steel backing for mechanical strength, with a porous sintered bronze layer that anchors the PTFE compound. During initial operation, a thin PTFE film transfers to the shaft, creating a low-friction interface that eliminates stick-slip and reduces wear. The bronze matrix also conducts heat away from the sliding surface, allowing the bearing to run at higher PV values than pure polymer bushings. Because the structure is self-lubricating, it performs reliably in applications where grease or oil cannot reach, such as pivots, linkages, and hinge points. The bushing is available in inch and metric sizes, with optional flanges, lubrication holes, and grooves for special installations. Standard wall thicknesses range from 0.75 mm to 2.5 mm, and custom dimensions can be produced for prototype or high-volume requirements.

Shaft and Housing Recommendations

For optimal performance, the mating shaft should be ground to a surface finish of Ra 0.2 – 0.4 μm and hardened to at least 45 HRC. The recommended shaft tolerance is f7 for general applications and h7 for precision guidance. Housing bores should be machined to H7 tolerance with a 15°–30° lead-in chamfer to ease assembly. Press-fit installation requires a mounting tool with a pilot nose to prevent damage to the PTFE sliding layer. After installation, the bushing bore may be sized with a burnishing tool to achieve the final running clearance.

These bushings are commonly specified for hydraulic cylinder pivots, steering linkages, conveyor chain pins, textile machinery guides, and food processing equipment. The combination of bronze and PTFE offers dependable dry running, reduced maintenance costs, and improved wear resistance compared to conventional bronze or polymer bearings in slow-speed, high-load conditions.
