10% graphite PTFE tube for reciprocating motion

10% Graphite PTFE Tube for Reciprocating Motion

In reciprocating motion systems, service life often depends on the tribological pairing between the moving rod or piston and its guide. A 10% graphite PTFE tube addresses the two most common failure modes: adhesive wear and stick-slip. By embedding fine graphite particles in the PTFE matrix, the material becomes a graphite filled PTFE tubing low friction solution that reduces surface drag during stroke reversal. Compared with a generic PTFE tube with graphite filler, a controlled 10% loading delivers a repeatable balance of self-lubrication and load capacity. As an established 10% graphite PTFE tube supplier, we verify filler content to ±1% by weight and inspect dispersion through cross-sectional microscopy. The finished low torque PTFE tube graphite filled geometry is especially suited to linear actuators, pneumatic cylinders, valve stems, and pump shafts that cycle tens of millions of times. Standard stock sizes span 2 mm to 50 mm inner diameter and 4 mm to 60 mm outer diameter, with continuous lengths up to 3 m. Tight tolerances of ±0.05 mm on ID and ±0.10 mm on OD allow direct replacement of worn liners without re-machining the housing. Operating temperatures range from -100°F to +500°F (-73°C to +260°C), and dry PV values reach 12,000 psi·ft/min at 100 fpm. The graphite filler also raises thermal conductivity three to five times above unfilled PTFE and dissipates static surface charge, making the tube practical for fuel handling and semiconductor automation where uncontrolled discharge is a risk. Chemical resistance remains broad, covering most acids, solvents, and hydrocarbon fuels except molten alkali metals and elemental fluorine.

The 10% graphite PTFE tube for reciprocating motion is extruded from virgin PTFE resin compounded with 10% by weight graphite powder, then sintered and stress-relieved. The dark gray to black color indicates uniform filler distribution. This product provides a coefficient of friction of 0.08–0.12 against hardened steel, a Shore D hardness of 58–62, and tensile strength between 2,000 and 2,500 psi. In wear tests against 303 stainless steel at 50 psi and 50 fpm, the 10% graphite PTFE tube shows a 40–60% reduction in wear volume compared with unfilled PTFE. It is commonly machined into bushings, piston rings, and guide sleeves for linear actuators, air cylinders, and pump shafts. Custom fabrication options include flared ends, cut-to-length pieces, circumferential grooves for O-rings, and drilled cross holes. Tubes are packaged in protective sleeves or wooden crates to maintain roundness during shipping.

For dynamic sealing and guiding, the 10% graphite PTFE tube forms a transfer film on the mating metal surface, which reduces breakaway torque and helps prevent stick-slip in pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Standard tolerances meet or exceed ISO 2768-m for machined plastic parts, and lot-specific test reports are available upon request. The product is RoHS and REACH compliant, and it can be supplied in custom lengths with deburred or chamfered ends depending on assembly requirements.
