PTFE tube with graphite filler

Our 10% graphite PTFE tube for reciprocating motion is engineered for hydraulic cylinder rod seals, pneumatic actuators, and linear bearings that operate under frequent direction changes. As a dedicated 10% graphite PTFE tube supplier, we control filler dispersion and density to ensure consistent performance in both dry and lubricated environments. The graphite filled PTFE tubing low friction formulation outperforms bronze-filled PTFE in cleanroom and food processing applications because it leaves no metallic residue on wear surfaces. For instruments and control valves where breakaway force is critical, the low torque PTFE tube graphite filled material reduces initial friction by up to 40% compared to virgin PTFE. These tubes maintain dimensional stability from -100°F to 500°F and withstand continuous exposure to aggressive acids, alkalis, and solvents.

PTFE tube with graphite filler is manufactured by blending virgin PTFE resin with 10% graphite powder, then extruding or compression molding the compound into tubes. The graphite additive improves thermal conductivity and reduces wear during dynamic motion, making the tubing ideal for seal rings, wear bands, valve stem packing, and insulation sleeves. Unlike bronze-filled PTFE, graphite filler does not scratch mating metal surfaces, so it is commonly used with soft alloys, stainless steel shafts, and coated cylinders.

The material is available in both extruded and molded grades with the following standard physical properties:

Standard dimensional options and tolerances are shown in the table below.

Outer Diameter (in)Inner Diameter (in)Wall Thickness (in)LengthTolerance (in)

The tubing exhibits excellent resistance to concentrated acids, alkalis, and organic solvents. It is not recommended for use with molten alkali metals or elemental fluorine at elevated temperatures. For electrical applications, the graphite filler provides slight conductivity with a surface resistivity of 10⁴–10⁶ ohm/sq, which helps dissipate static charges in dry running conditions.

Chemical EnvironmentCompatibility RatingNotes
Concentrated sulfuric acidExcellentNo measurable weight change after 30 days at 77°F
50% sodium hydroxideExcellentSuitable for continuous immersion
Acetone, ethanol, tolueneExcellentNo swelling or softening
Molten alkali metalsNot recommendedReacts at elevated temperatures
Elemental fluorine at high temperatureNot recommendedMay degrade the PTFE matrix

Custom machining services include chamfering, grooving, notching, and cutting to print. Tubes can be supplied in standard black color or with laser-marked part numbers for traceability. Typical applications include hydraulic cylinder wear rings, pneumatic piston seals, valve stem packing, pump shaft bearings, and electrical insulation sleeves. Every production lot is tested for filler dispersion using X-ray fluorescence and for mechanical integrity through tensile and elongation measurements. Certificates of analysis are available upon request.
