15% glass 5% MoS2 PTFE tube for low friction

Engineered for low-friction performance in demanding applications, this filled PTFE tube combines a 15% glass fiber reinforcement with 5% molybdenum disulfide to deliver exceptional wear resistance and reduced breakaway torque. Our glass and molybdenum disulfide filled PTFE tubing is manufactured with uniform filler dispersion to avoid weak spots. The formulation creates a true low starting torque PTFE tube that prevents stick-slip in precision valve and seal assemblies. As a specialized MoS2 glass PTFE tube manufacturer, we hold tight tolerances on every production run. The resulting PTFE tube with MoS2 and fiberglass filler offers dimensional stability under load, chemical inertness, and a low coefficient of friction.

The 15% glass 5% MoS2 PTFE tube provides a balanced combination of stiffness, lubricity, and thermal resistance. This product is specifically formulated for applications that require smooth operation at startup and continuous low friction during sliding contact.

Mechanical and thermal properties are tested on extruded and sintered tube samples. The following table summarizes typical values that guide material selection.

The molybdenum disulfide particles are evenly dispersed throughout the PTFE matrix. During sliding contact, these particles shear along their basal planes and form a transfer film on mating surfaces. This solid lubricant effect is what makes the 15% glass 5% MoS2 PTFE tube especially suited for low-speed, high-load applications where boundary lubrication conditions prevail.

This material performs well in valve seats, thrust washers, bearing bushes, and dynamic seal rings where a low coefficient of friction reduces energy loss and heat buildup. The glass fiber lowers creep and improves compressive strength, while the MoS2 particles migrate to the wear surface to maintain lubricity even after long idle periods. Machining recommendations include the use of sharp carbide tooling and adequate chip clearance to maintain tolerances.

Each production lot undergoes dimensional inspection, visual surface checks, and mechanical testing according to ASTM D4894. Full material certifications and test reports are available upon request. The manufacturing process uses high-purity PTFE resin and controlled filler addition to maintain batch-to-batch consistency.

Typical end uses include hydraulic valve spools, pneumatic cylinder bushings, chemical transfer lines, cryogenic seals, food processing equipment components, and electrical insulation sleeves. The tube can be machined into finished parts or used as a liner inside metal housings.

Custom inside diameters, wall thicknesses, and cut lengths are manufactured with short lead times. We also offer etched outer surfaces for bonding and flared or flanged ends for fitting retention.
