15% graphite PTFE rod manufacturer

With over two decades of precision polymer processing expertise and a dedicated production line for filled PTFE stock shapes, we supply machinists, seal manufacturers, and maintenance engineers across North America, Europe, and Asia. As a specialized manufacturer of high-performance fluoropolymer stock shapes, we produce an extensive range of filled PTFE rods for sealing and bearing systems. Our 15% graphite PTFE rod for seal is engineered for service conditions that demand low wear, low friction, and reliable sealing under pressure. The material is available as graphite filled PTFE round bar in diameters from 6 mm to 300 mm, with tight dimensional tolerances and consistent graphite dispersion. For end users seeking reduced maintenance intervals, our low friction graphite PTFE rod delivers a dry coefficient of friction below 0.12, which minimizes stick-slip and extends seal life. The same extrusion line produces PTFE rod with graphite lubrication that is widely used in valve seats, compressor piston rings, rotary shaft seals, and pump wear rings. Each production batch is tested for density, tensile strength, hardness, and filler content to ensure full compliance with ASTM D4894 and customer specifications. Our factory supports custom lengths, non-standard diameters, and cut-to-size orders with short lead times.

The 15% graphite PTFE rod is formulated by blending virgin polytetrafluoroethylene resin with precisely 15% by weight graphite powder, followed by isostatic compression molding and controlled sintering. During compounding, the graphite powder is pre-treated and uniformly dispersed using a high-speed mixer before being sieved to ensure no agglomerates larger than 45 µm remain. This process eliminates internal porosity and yields a homogeneous microstructure that improves thermal conductivity to roughly 0.45–0.55 W/m·K, compared with 0.25 W/m·K for unfilled PTFE. The graphite filler also reduces thermal expansion and improves dimensional stability under load. In dry running or poorly lubricated environments, the graphite platelets smear across the mating surface to form a self-renewing friction-reducing transfer film. This behavior allows the rod to operate continuously at surface speeds up to 2 m/s without external lubrication. Typical physical properties include a density of 2.10 to 2.20 g/cm³, tensile strength of 14 to 20 MPa, elongation at break above 150%, and Shore D hardness between 58 and 62. The material withstands continuous service temperatures from -100°C to +260°C and short-term exposure up to 300°C. It resists nearly all industrial chemicals, acids, solvents, and oxidizing agents, with the exception of molten alkali metals and elemental fluorine at elevated temperatures. Common machined components include piston rings, bearing bushes, lantern rings, gaskets, and cryogenic valve seats. After machining, the rod exhibits excellent surface finish and can be turned, milled, drilled, and threaded with standard carbide tooling. Because the graphite filler makes the material slightly more abrasive than virgin PTFE, cutting tool life is reduced by about 20–30%, and carbide or diamond-tipped tools are recommended. The sintered rod is then centerless ground to achieve concentricity within 0.1 mm TIR. The rod is packaged in protective film to prevent surface contamination during shipping. Custom certificates of compliance, full material traceability, and third-party testing reports are available for every order. Below are the standard technical parameters and performance highlights.
